Kathrine Synnes Finnskog has been active in the Norwegian music industry for a number of years. Following several years as a record label executive, Finnskog founded artist management Bpop (later BpopMentometer); a company that would successfully launch a number of key Norwegian acts abroad. Over the course of a relatively few years, BpopMentometer grew into one of Norway’s largest booking and management companies, representing such acts as Annie and Magnet as well as Alexander Rybak during the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest.
2013 saw Finnskog being appointed as Music Norway’s first director. The organisation, which is founded by Norway’s Ministry of Culture, is to facilitate music export and international promotion of Norwegian music. Core activities for Music Norway includes financial support programme administration and counselling for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Finnskog is also an active member of a number of advisory boards related to music export, including the Norwegian Music Industry’s Industrial Policy Advisory Board and Nomex – a pan-Nordic platform that is to facilitate growth and development in the Nordic music sector. Finnskog is also a member of a number of boards and working groups, including the Advisory Board for The Oslo Position Strategy and the initiative Nordic Cool which is to develop a platform for Nordic co-productions internationally for The Nordic Council of Ministers. Finnskog is the chair of MashUP.
